This is the last episode of Season 5, and I’m so thankful for another great season! Today’s episode is such an important addendum to this spring’s podcast series on attachment. My guest today is an old friend of PRN, Melissa Corkum. She was on the podcast a couple of years ago to talk about connected parenting and the Enneagram. In this episode, she’s back to talk about a new book that she has co-authored with Lisa Qualls called, Reclaim Compassion: The Adoptive Parent’s Guide to Overcoming Blocked Care with Neuroscience and Faith.
In today’s episode, Melissa defines what blocked care is, how it develops, and some of the tools for helping to care for our own nervous systems if we find ourselves experiencing blocked care. Whether or not you’re an adoptive parent, this conversation may still apply to you. This information is so helpful for understanding why we may find ourselves overwhelmed, disillusioned, or disconnected in relationship.
If you listen to this episode, and find yourself wondering if you’re suffering from blocked care in your parenting journey, Melissa has made a quick assessment available to PRN listeners: theadoptionconnection.com/prn.
If you’d like to know more about what Melissa and Lisa offer through the adoption connection, I hope you’ll check out their podcast and website to find out more.
Friends, it’s been a joy to be here with you for another season. I am taking the summer off to rest and practice a little renewal myself, and Lord willing, the podcast will be back the first Tuesday of September. In the meantime, I hope you’ll go back and listen to episodes you may have missed.
May you be encouraged on your journey with Jesus!
